San Antonito Elementary
The renovation and addition to this rural school, located in the East Mountains, has completely transformed the campus. The project began with a school assembly, to assist the students in a “design your dream school” contest. The solution involved a new entrance courtyard and parking lot, new two story classroom building to replace existing portables, new site landscaping and renovations to the old building to provide a new kitchen and expanded cafeteria and administrative offices.
The design incorporates brick, concrete and stucco elements to integrate with previously existing elements, to provide a fully compatible design. The second floor common area offers an outstanding mountain view for staff and students and serves as an indoor activity area during inclement weather.
