The African-American Center at Expo New Mexico provides the opportunity to celebrate and educate while telling the story of the contributions made by African-Americans during the settlement of the Southwest. This 20,000 sf building houses a performing arts center, an exhibit hall, and office space for leasing. The facility has a two story lobby, with a year round entrance from San Pedro Boulevard on the west and one allowing periodic access from the State Fair on the east. This lobby separates exhibitions, classroom space and second floor offices on the north from a performance hall and support spaces on the south. The second floor offices which house Albuquerque African American community services provide magnificent views of the escarpment to the west and Sandia Mountains to the east.
