“I do architecture because the work is always dynamic like life and we are always making highly conscious decisions looking forward.”

Kihei Mayer

Associate / Intern Architect

Following a whirlwind self-directed tour around the world after earning his undergraduate degree, Kihei was destined to pursue a professional degree in architecture. His prolific collection of sketches, photographs, and journals of buildings, landscapes and urban conditions in over 57 cities in 26 countries testifies to his commitment and passion of place.

Growing up in the Taos Ski Valley and Maui, he brings strong sensitivity to design of the built environment. Joining SMPC in 2012, Kihei has an inherent ability to communicate the holistic intent of design and has developed extraordinary visualization skills.

His joie de vivre also translates into his personal life where he might be flying down the mountain on a powder day at TSV, skateboarding along Lead, or cruising around the Nob Hill hood with his family.
